• I’ve been on the hunt for that magical portrait shot of a male wild turkey for several years now. This year I got a little closer to capturing that image or something close to it. Here are a few from 2025.

Happy Thanksgiving to all who follow this page and my photo adventures! Thank You for your support and enthusiasm. Enjoy your blessings and the day’s ahead! 🦃

  • The Queen butterfly

I took a little road trip down to the desert in Southern California. While wandering at the Sonny Bono Salton Sea Wildlife Refuge, I sighted my first Queen Butterfly. It was a lovely surprise that brought a smile to my face as I delighted in its beauty.

Spring wildflowers came and went kinda early in my world this year.

Burrowing owl (Athene cunicularia): Species of Concern in California. That’s the whole reason I drove over to this refuge in the first place. I used to see these owls in various spots in my area, but lately they haven’t been around in their usual spots, and that’s made me a little bit sad to think they might have disappeared. More than 70 percent of the California population is found within the Imperial Valley, were this refuge is. I was hoping to find more than one together, but that didn’t happen. Instead, I saw around three individually when I was there. Which was awesome just the same!

  • A New Door opens…Hello 2026!

As the final hours of 2025 tick by today, I’m taking a moment to look back in gratitude for the many highlights that shone through in a somewhat challenging year for me. Last year at this time, I was looking ahead to 2025, and I was a little unsure how the world around me would play out. I had no idea what challenges were in store for me, but I’m still blessed. I’m grateful for the many blessings that did come my way. I know many others in this world have it much harder than me. Photography is what kept me optimistic and brought joy this year.

These are some of my favorite images from 2025. Photographically, I continued to learn new skills, including lighting techniques and experimenting with my camera. I went out and explored some new spots as well as some familiar favorites. This led to some awesome experiences and a few satisfying images. Some of these images are making a first-time appearance on my feed. For one reason or another, time and energy escaped me earlier and I never got around to sharing them.

I hope 2026 is filled with Health, Wealth, and New Adventures for you and me! Thanks for spending some time here. Enjoy the collection, see you in the New Year!

    ~ Andria

  • In 2023 or 2024 I was introduced to a new genre of photography know as ICM ( Intentional Camera Movement). I laughed at first and thought, Camera movement..I thought that was something I was suppose to avoid that while clicking my shot? The key word here is INTENTIONAL movement. Stephanie Johnson is a photographer who’s work caught my eye as to what ICM is all about and what intentional movement can create. I watched a few workshops with her and picked up a few techniques I tried out this past year. Most of the images were “Blah…” but a few stood out and made me say “Wow, that’s kinda cool!” So a played around, and kept shooting, that’s how you learn and grow as a photographer. That’s what’s important to me any, learning and growing as a person and artist.

Now, I’m ready to share a few of my images that spoke to me this year. The last one reminds me of something painterly like a Monet. This softer, painterly rendition of “Abstract” is more appealing to my eye than say something of a Picasso with it’s sharp edges.

I’m thinking about entering one of these images in a local art competition for Abstract images. I could use a second opinion on which one stands out from the others. Please comment on what image attracts your eye or speaks to you, if any of them does. What are your thoughts on ICM photography? Have you explored this genre before? Please share if you like what you see here. Thanks so much for stopping by and spending some time with me and my images. ~ Andria

Hi Andria, thanks for sharing your beautiful art and what you’ve learned and experienced, ICM is indeed interesting! The first picture is my favorite, and yes I totally agree with you it’s more of Monet and not Picasso, as it reminds me of Monet’s paintings, especially his impressions, it has that similar dreamy fluid feeling. Beautiful!

  • A feeding frenzy going on in my Hawthorn tree this morning. Lots of little birdies feasting on berries got my attention this morning. Mostly Purple finches and an Anna’s Hummingbird hanging out. Ten years ago when I first moved back into Dad’s house, the yard was pretty barren. I consulted a landscape architect on what trees would be a good fit for my odd shape yard that would also be good for attracting birds. He suggested a Hawthorne tree. I don’t remember the variety. I planted two, one didn’t make it and this one with all the berries almost didn’t either. The main trunk died, but a sprout came up and I just let it be for awhile. Many years later that sprout is a full grown tree bringing me a beautiful view this November morning. A true testament that in the garden, sometimes you just gotta let things be and evolve at their own pace. P.S. a little extra water in the heat of Summer doesn’t hurt either! Hahaha!

Awesome pics! That’s a sad story about the horses. Hopefully there is a solution that has a happy ending for them.

Thank you Ruth! The plight of wild horse’s truly is sad. I pray we find a way to live in harmony together. It’s such a peaceful vibe when sitting and watching them in their environment.

Very interesting article on the horses. 700 of them is to much for the land. Hopefully a solution will come about.

Hopefully BLM will step up and do the right thing in helping to preserve and protect the horses. The cost is just too great to our environment!
